Bratislava
Away-day guide
unverified draftBratislava is compact, relatively affordable and easy to manage over a weekend, with the Old Town providing most of the useful pubs and food within walking distance. Tehelné pole is a short tram ride away, but visiting fans in colours should drink centrally and follow the official away route rather than using the home pubs beside the ground.
🚺 To Národný Futbalový Štadión Tehelné Pole
From the centre, take tram 4 towards Zlaté piesky and get off at Zimný štadión, then walk roughly 7 minutes via Trnavská cesta or Viktora Tegelhoffa. From the main railway station, bus 61 towards the airport serves the Bajkalská side of the stadium. Allow extra time for police barriers and entry searches.

- Do not plan on street parking immediately around the stadium on matchday. Access restrictions and full residential spaces are common; use public transport or a paid car park farther away, such as around Central or Trnavské mýto, and walk.
Public transport
The centre is compact and most Old Town journeys are walkable. Trams are normally the quickest option beyond it, backed up by buses and trolleybuses. IDS BK tickets are time-based and transferable across city public transport: a standard 30-minute ticket costs 1.20 and a 60-minute ticket costs 1.80. A 24-hour city ticket is 4.85 and a 72-hour ticket is 10.90. Paper tickets must be validated when boarding; tickets bought in the IDS BK app are activated in the app and are slightly cheaper in some categories. Bratislava city travel uses zones 100 and 101. Do not assume a bank-card tap on board has bought the ticket you intended; use a machine or the app and keep the ticket valid until the end of the journey.

✈ Airports & cheaper alternatives
- M. R. Štefánik Airport Bratislava BTS primary 9 km Bus 61 runs to Bratislava hlavná stanica, the main railway station, in roughly 25 minutes; night bus N61 covers late arrivals. Normal IDS BK city tickets are valid. The local and easiest airport, but its route network is limited.
- Vienna International Airport VIE alternative 63 km Direct Slovak Lines, FlixBus and other coaches run to Bratislava, usually serving Nivy bus station and sometimes Most SNP. Buy ahead for busy weekends. Often has far more flights and can be cheaper, but allow about an hour for the cross-border transfer and extra time around kick-off weekends.
🍺 Supporters' pubs
ŠK Slovan Bratislava
Home fans: Plan B, a fan-owned craft-beer pub beside the stadium; Šport pub U Belasých; Plzeňská piváreň na Zimáku; Bistro Štadión, where carrying cash is sensible; and The Blue Champs beside the club shop. Plan B, U Belasých and Zimák are particularly likely to be full of Slovan supporters.
Away fans: The Dubliner Irish Pub, Sedlárska 6, is the best-documented neutral base: it has been recommended to visiting supporters by match authorities and used by previous European away followings. Pheasant Pub, Liquid Factory and Ventúrska Klubovňa, around Sedlárska and Ventúrska, are other neutral Old Town options. Avoid the stadium-side home pubs, the immediate approaches to Tehelné pole and the home fan zone behind Sector C when wearing away colours.
Slovan are Bratislava's only senior club in the 2026/27 UEFA men's competitions. There is no permanent away meeting point: police have previously used Župné námestie for escorted buses, but the location changes by fixture. Follow the visiting club's briefing rather than heading independently to stadium pubs.
Sourced from supporters' forums — always follow your club's and police advice for the fixture.
Nightlife
The Old Town is easiest for a one-night trip. Sedlárska and Ventúrska have busy pubs and are the most practical streets for groups, while Michalská and Hviezdoslavovo námestie are lively but generally dearer. Obchodná has cheaper, less polished pubs and late bars within a 10-minute walk of the historic centre. The Nivy area has modern bars but is more spread out and less useful for a travelling support wanting everything close together.
Food & drink
Try bryndzové halušky, potato dumplings with sheep's cheese and bacon; kapustnica, a sauerkraut soup often containing sausage; lokše, thin potato flatbreads; and vyprážaný syr, fried cheese normally served with chips and tartare sauce. Kofola is the standard local draught soft drink. Slovak lagers are widely available, while Bratislava also has a decent small-brewery and craft-beer scene.
Cheap eats & beer
For filling Slovak food in the centre, try Divný Janko on Jozefská or U Sedliaka on Obchodná; both are generally better value than the restaurants around the main Old Town squares. Slovak Pub on Obchodná is useful for groups wanting dumplings, soups and beer under one roof, though it is popular with visitors. Obchodná and the streets immediately north of the Old Town are the best central bet for cheaper 0.5L beers; prices rise around Hviezdoslavovo námestie and the riverfront. Near the ground, the food court in Central shopping centre and the market hall at Trnavské mýto are straightforward budget options. Visiting fans in colours are better drinking around Sedlárska and Ventúrska, particularly The Dubliner, Pheasant Pub, Liquid Factory or Ventúrska Klubovňa. Plan B, Šport pub U Belasých, Plzeňská piváreň na Zimáku, Bistro Štadión and The Blue Champs are Slovan home pubs and should be avoided by away groups, especially in colours.
Staying safe
Bratislava is generally straightforward, but watch phones and wallets in packed Old Town bars, on night buses and around the railway station. Use a metered taxi or an app rather than accepting an unsolicited ride, particularly at the airport or hlavná stanica. Public drinking restrictions apply in parts of the centre. For Slovan matches, do not display away colours around the stadium-side home pubs, Sector C fan zone or on isolated approaches to the ground. Keep groups together after the match and follow police instructions if away fans are held back or escorted.
On matchday
The away allocation at Tehelné pole is segregated and uses a controlled entrance, with repeated ticket, body and sometimes shoe checks reported at UEFA fixtures. Carry the passport or ID used for the booking because ticket-name checks may be made. Away colours are prohibited in home sectors; Sector C is the Slovan ultras end and entry there is particularly strict, with no refund promised if an away supporter is refused. Stay in the Old Town in colours and use any official meeting point, shuttle or escorted route. Police can restrict the approaches around Bajkalská, Vajnorská and Viktora Tegelhoffa and may temporarily hold traffic or public transport after the game. The visiting club's match-specific instructions take priority, particularly for the meeting point and post-match holdback.
